Workplace Challenge
Last week, Y10 student Ben completed his workplace challenge with David Baines, the MP for St Helens North and a former student at St Edmund Arrowsmith. Ben spent two days with David and his office in Earlestown and here is what he said on his experience at an MP's office.
"It was really interesting and such a great two days. I'd like to thank David, Andy and the rest of the team for giving me such a great opportunity. During my time, I was able to see the everyday running of the office, from the main manager, policy and local caseworkers, Comms and from the Parliament office head.
"I shadowed all of their work, including writing emails from the casework back to constituents and preparing a social media post. I also arranged a visit for David to a primary school in St Helens North and prepared a briefing for David for his visit to Jolley's Chemist on the Newton High Street.
"I also shadowed David on his visit to Jolley's and had conversations with the brilliant staff at the pharmacy and understanding their role also.
"It was a such a great couple of days at David's office, and I'd like to thank him and the team for taking me in and giving me an unforgettable two days."
