Year 7 Pupils Take Part in Big Book Quiz 2026

Year 7 pupils at St Edmund Arrowsmith showcased their reading knowledge during the English Department's Big Book Quiz 2026.
Representatives from each Year 7 form competed in teams, answering questions on a wide range of books, authors, characters and plots. The quiz challenged pupils to recall details from various texts, with teams earning points throughout a series of exciting rounds.
The competition was closely contested, with pupils demonstrating excellent teamwork, enthusiasm and a genuine passion for reading. Supporters cheered on their classmates as teams battled for the title of Big Book Quiz champions.
Miss Newman praised the participants, saying:
"I was incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm and knowledge shown by all of the Year 7 pupils. It was wonderful to see so many students engaging with books and working together so well. They should all be very proud of their efforts."
Congratulations to Form 7C, who were crowned the Big Book Quiz 2026 Champions after an outstanding performance throughout the competition. Their impressive knowledge, teamwork and determination saw them emerge victorious in a closely fought contest.
The event was a great success, highlighting the importance of reading for pleasure while giving pupils the opportunity to celebrate their love of literature in a fun and competitive environment. The quiz not only tested pupils' knowledge but also encouraged a lifelong appreciation of books and reading.
A special thank you to Miss Newman, Miss Clare, Mr Hind and the entire English Department for organising such a fantastic event and inspiring our pupils to develop a love of reading.
