SEA gymnasts from Hope Acro were at the North West Schools Prelims in Lancaster yesterday, where they represent their school rather than the club.
The winners in each category would qualify for the British Schools Finals in Stoke-on-Trent in May to compete for the national schools title against the champions from the 12 regions of the UK. In the highly competitive Under-16 Women's Group 6 category, Emma Green, Isla Cook, Eva Booth (all Y11), Hattie Lloyd, Jessica Bithell (both Y10) and Lola Sitko (Y9) were a class above their rivals and took gold to book their place in the national finals. Having already secured the national title at Under-14 level in 2024, the group now heads to the finals with their sights set on becoming double British Schools Champions!
Libby Williams and Eva Barron (both Y9) competed in the Under 13 Women's pairs and performed brilliantly for a convincing victory which will see them advance to the national finals with high hopes of success.
The Under 16 girls also took part in their age group's Women's Pairs category. In an incredibly close contest, Emma Green and Isla Cook took Silver, Hattie Lloyd and Eva Booth took Bronze, and Jessica Bithell and Lola Sitko finished fourth, with the gold medal going to a pair of their clubmates from Upholland High School. The eight SEA gymnasts will now go on to the NATIONAL finals with a great chance of success in the Under 16 Group 6 and the Under 13 Women's Pair. The finals take place at Fenton Manor in Stoke on 2 & 3 May 2026.
