Welcome Back and Happy New Year!

By Joshua Paul (Head Boy) & Eve Rowlance (Head Girl)

We hope everyone enjoyed a restful and well-deserved Christmas break after such a busy half-term. As we begin the new year, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the many fantastic achievements of last term—because it’s safe to say it was a truly memorable one.

One of the standout highlights was the CyberFirst competition, where our brilliant Year 8 girls demonstrated exceptional teamwork and determination, ultimately emerging victorious in the girls’ computing competition. After weeks of hard work, their efforts paid off as they were awarded multiple prizes and will soon be heading to Glasgow for a winners’ trip. Eva B, one of the competitors, said that “the competition required a lot of resilience,” and it is clear that the experience was both challenging and unforgettable.

Another special moment before the holidays was the Christmas Carol Concert, which brought our school community together for a wonderful celebration. The evening was filled with beautiful music performed by the school choir and concert band, alongside thoughtful readings from the chaplaincy group. A huge thank you to Maria and the music department for organising such a meaningful service—it was the perfect way to end the term.

After returning in the new year, our Year 11 students faced their much-anticipated (and dreaded!) trial exams, giving them a realistic insight into what their GCSEs will be like in just five months’ time. Following two intense weeks, a well-earned rest was certainly needed. We would also like to thank the Year 10 students who stepped up and supported the school as prefects during the exam period.

On a particularly positive note, congratulations go to Year 11 student Maizie Trueman, who made her debut as the youngest ever female to start for Liverpool FC. She scored a goal—unfortunately disallowed—and assisted another, marking an incredible achievement. She should be extremely proud, and the whole school community wishes her the very best in her future career.

Finally, we hope that the Year 8 and 9 students have a safe and enjoyable time on their trips to France and New York. We look forward to hearing all about their experiences on their return.

We can’t wait to celebrate many more amazing achievements from our school community this year!

Best wishes,

Eve Rowlance & Joshua Paul
